The FSSAI License can have validity from 1 year to 5 years. The renewal of the License should be done within 30 days before the expiration of the License. The Central Government charges Rs 100 penalty if the renewal of the FSSAI License is not done before the expiration. It is mandatory for every food business to have FSSAI License to scale its business legally. If the renewal of the FSSAI License is not done before the expiration and any gap occurs in the renewal process then the business operator had to issue a new FSSAI License in order to run his business legally. The FSSAI License will be in power up to 30 days after its expiration.

    FSSAI issues food license for a limited time duration. After the expiry of your license term, you need to apply for renewing your FSSAI license. Experts advise food businesses to carry out the renewal process 120 days before the date of expiry.

    TYPES OF FSSAI LICENSE RENEWAL

    As there are three different types of FSSAI license, FSSAI renewal also has three types i.e., Basic, State, and Central FSSAI license.

    Basic FSSAI License Renewal :

    Basic FSSAI License Renewal or the “FSSAI License Renewal Form A” is applicable for all the food business operator falls under basic registration criteria( below 12 lakhs turnover). The food registration renewal fees vary between Rs 100 to Rs 500 depending on the number of years that you choose.

    State FSSAI License Renewal :

    State FSSAI License Renewal or “FSSAI License Renewal Form B” is applicable for all the food business operator falls under State license criteria( between 12 lakhs – 20 crore turnover). The food license renewal fees totally depend on the following two criteria:

    • Kind of Food Business ( Restaurant or Manufacturer or any other business).
    • Validity of License Renewal ( between 1 year to 5 years).

    Food License renewal government Fees can be Rs 2000 or 3000 or 5000 for one year depending on the kind of food business.

    Central FSSAI License Renewal :

    Central FSSAI License Renewal or “FSSAI License Renewal Form C” is applicable for all the food business operators falling under Central license criteria( above 20 crores turnover/ importer-exporter/ Operating in multiple locations). Government Fees for FSSAI Central License renewal is 7500 per year.
